Valentines Day stamp painting

We have been having fun today, well actually the boys have been having fun and I have mainly been tidying up! Jakob wanted to paint - so I set out his paints and paper, as usual I put some random objects out in case he wants to paint with them - things like cookie cutters, sponges, blocks... whatever they fancy!

Today Jakob gravitated towards the heart shapes (hence the valentines day post!) - this wasn't intentional, and I didn't just put out hearts!
valentines day art - painting with sponges
Heart sponge dipped in red, pink and white paint
Because he was enjoying using the heart sponge and cookie cutter, I bent a toilet roll tube into a (semi?) heart shape, carved a little mini heart in a carrot and gave him a heart Christmas tree decoration from out box of ones we need to restring!

In the picture below he used a heart sponge and dipped it into red paint to print the heart shapes on to the paper. The then dipped a heart shaped cookie cutter into pink paint to stamp. He said that he preferred it on the red as it looked nicer - I agree! He then drew around the (clean) heart sponge, I think he did pretty well considering it's squishy and moved as he was doing it!
Since he was having so much fun stamping I got out some of my letter stamps and he started stamping valentines. Then he found there was a heart (as well as other symbols) with the letters and got excited stamping that instead!

For this picture he was stamping with the cookie cutter and I said - why don't you paint some of them? He painted one and said he liked it and wanted to leave it like that, so he did!
